New District 9 Online Game, Trailer Coming!
- Sony's TriStar Pictures has launched a new online game for District 9 which you can play here ! You'll have the option to either play as a MNU Officer on patrol in District 9 and arrest or shoot non-humans, or play as a non-human and take action against the MNU's patrolling guards by sneaking through the slums and collecting valuable alien fuel canisters.
We've also learned that a new trailer for the film, about 2 minutes and 21 seconds long, will debut next week in theaters with Bruno on July 10th. The trailer may be online before next Friday.
Directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson, the sci-fi film depicts a fictional world where extraterrestrials have become refugees in South Africa. It opens on August 14th.

Ready for a View-Master Movie?
- "Fringe" co-producer/writer Brad Caleb Kane will be writing a movie based on the View-Master toy, which first came on the market in 1939.
He announced on his Twitter account that after he's done penning the sci-fi action-adventure Uprising for director Wolfgang Petersen and Columbia Pictures, he will take on the project for DreamWorks Pictures.
Kane says Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Fringe," Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , Star Trek ) are behind the film and that it will be "like the old 80's Amblin movies: Goonies, Young Sherlock... In that vein."

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs Freezes Transformers
- The "dawn" of the extended holiday weekend box office commenced with Twentieth Century Fox's animated feature Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs freezing out the mega-grossing sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , grossing an estimated $13.8 million on Wednesday, in 3993 theaters.
Fox domestic distribution president, Bruce Snyder said: "What a great start for the holiday. 'Ice Age' continues to be a comedy for all audiences."
"Revenge of the Fallen" added $10.9 million for a domestic total of $240.9 million. It was followed on Wednesday by newcomer Public Enemies , which earned $8.2 million in 3,391 theaters.
The Transformers sequel could still beat "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" over the weekend.

Universal Pictures to Fight Asteroids
- Universal has won a four-studio bidding war to pick up the film rights to the classic Atari video game "Asteroids," says The Hollywood Reporter . Matthew Lopez will write the script for the feature adaptation, which will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
In "Asteroids," initially released as an arcade game in 1979, a player controlled a triangular space ship in an asteroid field. You can play an unofficial version of the game below!

Resident Evil 4 Arriving in Late 2010
- ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Sony's Screen Gems is eyeing a September 17, 2010 release for the fourth "Resident Evil" installment, to be titled Resident Evil: Afterlife . The ending of the third film, Resident Evil: Extinction , left the door wide open for another sequel.

The Game to Play B.A. Baracus in The A-Team ?
- BlackFilm.com says that rapper The Game is a frontrunner for the role of B.A. Baracus in director Joe Carnahan's The A-Team at 20th Century Fox. The role was originally played by Mr. T on the TV show.

Transformers Up to $448.4 Million Worldwide
- Paramount and DreamWorks' Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is close to becoming the highest-grossing film of the year at the worldwide box office in less than two weeks in release.
Through Tuesday, the film's global take was $448.4 million, says Variety . The current No. 1 title, Angels & Demons , which opened in mid-May, has grossed $469 million.
At the domestic box office, the Transformers sequel grossed $14.9 million Monday and $13.5 million Tuesday for a total of $228.4 million.
Overseas, Monday's grosses clocked in at $14 million, while Tuesday came in at $16 million for a foreign total of $220 million.

Christian Slater in Talks for The Forgotten
- Christian Slater ("My Own Worst Enemy") is in negotiations to star in ABC's new series "The Forgotten," says The Hollywood Reporter .
"Forgotten," from WBTV and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is a mystery drama revolving around a group of amateur detectives led by a former cop (Slater) whose 11-year-old daughter was kidnapped three years before.
The project is recasting after being picked up to series in May to air at 10 p.m. Tuesdays starting Sept. 22.
